Marge Dietterich, owner and operator of Private Island Embroidery, is a hands-on type of person. The story of how she got started in the custom apparel business reflects her nature of taking the bull by the horns and getting things done. “About 12 years ago I wanted to purchase some embroidered shirts. I was told it would cost $150 to digitize the design and that it would take six weeks to get the shirts! I couldn’t believe it, so I decided to buy a tabletop sewing machine and do it myself,” explains Marge. She’s been growing the business in leaps and bounds ever since. But to Marge, it’s not just a business. As she says, “This is my fun.”
